Vibrant and cosmopolitan, Downtown Toronto is Canada’s largest hotbed of economic and cultural activity – and is home to some of the most luxurious condos and homes around. As a result, resale units in Toronto’s downtown core continue to be some of the most desirable in the region as a whole.
Neighborhood Profile
Downtown Toronto is centered on the Financial District, which is the country’s largest business hub. It is flanked on all sides by thriving mixed-use neighborhoods. To the east and west along King and Queen Streets, former warehouse and industrial districts have been transformed into hubs for tech companies, luxury residences and an eclectic mix of shops and restaurants. South of Union Station, the Harbourfront is home to a number of the city’s most popular landmarks and recreational destinations – with condos for sale here offering the best waterfront views in Downtown Toronto. Along College and Dundas Streets, the renowned University of Toronto and Ryerson University can be found.
Transportation in Downtown Toronto
Streetcar routes provide frequent service on virtually all major downtown thoroughfares. On King Street and Spadina Avenue, measures have been taken to drastically speed up service. All streetcar routes connect to at least one subway station, with Line 1 Yonge-University directly serving downtown and Line 2 Bloor-Danforth running along its northern edge. In addition, the planned Ontario Line will include subway service along Queen Street. For regional transportation needs, all GO Transit rail lines terminate at Union Station, while the Union-Pearson Express allows Pearson Airport to be reached in under 30 minutes.
