Scarborough

Scarborough is the epitome of Toronto’s reputation as a multicultural city with distinct and diverse neighborhoods, and is also home to a wide array of resale condos and homes.

District Profile

Along Lake Ontario, a series of leafy lakeshore residential communities are clustered along Kingston Road, which continues to provide a secondary route out of the city (with the Cliffside area being particularly noteworthy. The renowned Scarborough Bluffs, the expansive Rouge National Urban Park and the quaint-by-comparison East Point Park all line the waterfront, along with a smattering of beaches and walking trails. Further north, Scarborough Town Centre serves as the formerly-independent city’s “downtown”, and has become home to an increasing number of high-rise condominium towers. Along the borough’s northern and western boundaries, the neighborhoods that give Toronto its reputation for multiculturalism can be found. Within these districts, shops, restaurants and other businesses representing cultures from around the world can be found-along with a plethora of recreational and educational amenities that allow them to thrive.

Transportation in Scarborough

Line 2-Bloor Danforth serves the southwestern portion of the borough as far as Kennedy Road, with Line 3 Scarborough providing a link between Kennedy station and Scarborough Town Centre. Numerous TTC bus routes crisscross the area, with many supplemented by express buses. Close to the lake, GO Transit’s Lakeshore East line provide service every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends. At the same time, the agency’s Stouffville line provides direct access to Downtown Toronto for residents in Scarborough’s western neighborhoods. Highway 401 cuts through the centre of the district, and features entrances/exits at most major thoroughfares.
