Toronto’s East End is a collection of historic, established communities and up-and-coming hotspots existing side by side – with a wealth of resale properties being located throughout the district.
Neighborhood Profile
Along the Don River, Riverdale and Riverside have become some of the city’s most sought-after residential locales. The former is home to the popular and picturesque Riverdale Park East, while the latter has become a hub of redevelopment. Further east, Danforth Avenue is a mosaic of cultures, starting with Greektown and including shops & restaurants representing nationalities from all over the world. Queen Street East and Gerrard Street East anchor Leslieville, a fashionable local amongst young professionals. Continuing along Queen, The Beaches offer a resort-like atmosphere in the heart of the city, with a scenic boardwalk and a host of summer events in Woodbine Park.
Transportation in the East End
A host of streetcar, subway and bus routes crisscross the area. All major east-west thoroughfares feature streetcar service westward into Downtown Toronto, while service is also available on Broadview Avenue. All north-south bus routes in the area connect to subway stations on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, which runs along the northern edge of the East End. Danforth GO station serves the eastern portion of the district, with travel time to Union Station being under 15 minutes. Additionally, the planned Ontario Line will enhance subway service in the area by providing a new route into the downtown core. For drivers, the Don Valley Parkway is easily accessible.
